Dr. Shana O’Connell is a Master Instructor in the
Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at Howard
University. Her work on Roman wall painting in the
Eastern Mediterranean (Israel; Turkey) has been
supported by the Loeb Classical Library of Harvard
University, W. F. Albright Institute of Archaeological
Research in Jerusalem, and the International Catacomb
Society. At Howard she teaches Classical Art, Classical
Mythology, and has taught Art Appreciation and Slavery
in the Ancient World. Additionally, Dr. O’Connell is an
artist who is currently captivated by needlework and lives in Washington, DC.

On May 11th she will be speaking on “Style in Ancient Art and
Empowerment through Visual Analysis.”
