Redefining Classics stands as a unifying celebration for all who cherish the classics and the classical tradition. It transcends the confines of academia, extending its embrace beyond the scholars of academia to educators, homeschooling parents, students, and enthusiasts invested in the Great Conversation.

Here, Classicists and Liberal Arts scholars converge, recognizing that while their fields may differ, classics forms the very foundation of the liberal arts. No longer is this gathering exclusive or financially inaccessible; it opens its doors wide to all who perceive the value in the classical tradition, inviting them to share, connect, affirm, and nurture a community rooted in a tradition that has influenced humanity across continents since time immemorial.

Under the theme “All of Our Stories: How the Classical Tradition Brings Peace the event fosters a deepened understanding of one another by encouraging the sharing of personal journeys into classics and the classical tradition, and how these have served as wellsprings of inspiration. Main speakers will lead the charge, igniting conversations in smaller, more intimate settings where attendees can freely exchange their narratives.

Comprising three integral parts, the gathering unfolds its richness:

The Virtual Pre-gathering (April 26, 2025 10 am-5 pm): A diverse array of voices from the classics and liberal arts sphere will offer succinct accounts of their ties to the classical tradition. Attendees can log in throughout the day to partake in these illuminating narratives, setting the stage for the main conference in June.

Redefining Classics Gathering @ Catholic University (Saturday, May 24, 2025, 10 am-6 pm): Main speakers will delve into their personal odysseys toward the classical tradition. Breakout sessions will provide fertile ground for attendees to engage in guided discussions, forging connections with kindred spirits who share a fervent love for the classics.

Closing Dinner (evening of May 24): The conference ends with us sharing a meal together in Maloney Hall to continue sharing our stories in a relaxed setting.

Scheduled breaks throughout the day offer opportunities to savor time with friends new and old, with restaurants like Bus Boys and Poets, a renowned restaurant just across from the campus, providing a delightful culinary backdrop.
